About

If you’re reading this, then you’ve stumbled upon the Of Joy That Kills blog. Inspired by the final lines Kate Chopin’s masterpiece of quickly digestible fiction, “The Story of an Hour,” this is a culmination of things that bring so much joy they could kill—figuratively, of course. Namely, what you’ll find here is a curated selection of Food, Film, Book, and Television tips and reviews. So, if you’re a fan of the chiller things in life, this is the place for you.

Who am I, you might ask? Well, my name is Evey and I’m a Food, Film, and Fiction fanatic hailing from the dusty roads, snowy mountains and multilane highways of the American Southwest. An education in both the US and Germany has finetuned my love of literature and visual culture, and a (un)healthy appetite has endowed me with a devastating desire for all things delicious. In the Spring of 2014, I left my beloved American soils to explore the depths of Munich and fell for the gritty charms of Giesing, my new home. With the Of Joy that Kills blog, it is my intention to create and share content inspired by my many multifaceted passions—passions I hope you’ll share with me too. So, whether you’re looking for things to stream, things to read, or things to eat, you’re sure to find something here.

Now that you know everything about me, it’s my turn to learn a thing or two about you. So, drop me a line on social media (see @ofjoythatkills on Instagram or Twitter) or leave a comment under a post. Be sure to let me know what you think and feel free to tell me what you’d like to see more of on Of Joy That Kills.
